ADOPT A SCHOOL PROGRAMME Go to Home

Vision and Mission

The future of India depends upon the quality of education imparted to our children. Our approach is to transforming school education in Karnataka by the active involvement of donors, non government organizations and corporate sectors through our “ADOPT A SCHOOL PROGRAMME” under “MISSION SCHOOL TO LEARN KARNATAKA”, which we are planning to launch at the beginning of the year 2019. Vision of “ ADOPT A SCHOOL PROGRAMME ” under “MISSION SCHOOL TO LEARN KARNATAKA” Is to convert backward rural and urban Government or other schools into Model Schools in 3 Years of time so that they are on par with the best run city / village school in terms of infrastructure and academic performance.

OBJECTIVES

  • Easy access to high quality education for under privileged rural and urban school children
  • Bridge the knowledge, economic and opportunity divide.

CHALLENGES AND ACTION

We are aware of the challenges faced by government and other tribal and rural schools.
  • Very high student-teacher ratioed rural and urban school children
  • Lack of basic facilities such toilet, benches, library books, etc.
  • Lack of inspired teachers and a high absentee rate
  • High drop – out rate among students The interventions envisaged, in stages, include the following, which are likely to crate the maximum        impact on the efficacy of the school education:
  • Appointing teachers to fill critical gaps and reduce the student- teacher ratio
  • Inducting teachers to reach remedial classes to mainstream the slow learners
  • Improving English language capabilities of students through other methodologies.
  • Infusing hitherto neglected aspects like Sports, Yoga, Arts & Crafts, and Health, Hygiene & Environmental awareness, to bring all round        development and sustain student’s interest in coming to school.
  • Adding some badly needed infrastructure like toilets, computers, library books, etc.
  • Training school teachers to access and use classroom educational aids and digital content.
The above are likely to enhance motivation of the school teachers and students to be regular to school by making learning and teaching far more interesting and effective.
This will result in several hundreds of children benefitting from a meaningful education transforming their lives.

ASP Methodology

Akshaya Aahara Foundation has developed certain criteria to list a school as a model school. A model school should have sufficient infrastructure, enough teachers, above average academic performance, high moral standards developed among students etc. Our mission is to create a sustainable model school out of an adopted backward educational institution. This is to be achieved through active collaboration with the government, the village community and other alliance partners like ngos and corporate groups. Trough these collaboration, the schools are provided required infrastructure like drinking water, toilets, class rooms and the academic performance is improved.
